Sat, March 24, 2012 Fairfield Friends Church is throwing a shower
1-3pm for Julie & Dan. This will be a general shower and individual family gifts will be a blessing; however,
there are two items that Julie and Dan have on their wedding registry that cost more
than one family would spend on a shower gift. If you are interested in contributing
to a group gift (either a grill or camcorder), please hand your money to me by
February 26th or leave it with our church secretary, Carole Mullikin.

Jesus Is Coming Again!
Do you align your day to day living with this fact in mind? I must admit I usually do not! I am caught up with the stuff of earth! What calls do I need to make, is there food in the house for dinner, am I on target with my sermon preparation, what is going on with the family. These are not bad things but they are only part of the true focus I am meant o have as Kid of the King! Perhaps that is why Paul admonishes Christians:
“ Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3
Father, help me to set my sights more on Heaven that on earth! Help to think about Heaven more than ever in these difficult days! Encourage me with the reality that one day your Son, my Savior will return to this earth to gather us children and take us to our real and eternal home- Amen
Collaboration with Jesus
It is amazing to me that Jesus wants to use each of us in helping people become all that He designed them to be! My wife Debbie, in her studies ran across a thought regarding Jesus’ request to the crowds in John 11::44,
And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!” (NLT)
Debbie notes that Jesus is asking them to help Lazarus realize his freedom by getting the grave clothes off of him. Lazarus has new life but Jesus wants his followers to have a part in his freedom. New believers, and infact of all us, need help getting the old way of life off of us.
This is the whole point of the great commission. Making disciples means that we collborate with Jesus in His transforming work. Helping our brothers and sisters walk in the Spirit and in the Word.
A High and Holy calling for sure! May God give us the wisdom, power and courage to join with Jesus in changing lives one at a time!
